This is a packaging idea for the 2017 MTV VMA's based on the idea of taking a cliche and making something new. Geometric shapes, gradients, and drop shadows are used to highlight the artists and the type.

Drop Shadows
Today's design uses a lot of gradients and drop shadows. The drop shadows were originally an accent to the design and photos, then it evolved into a way to reveal the artists or the photos.
